And so his failures in the debt ceiling fight. He wasn’t serious, he was only shrewd—and shrewdness wasn’t enough. He demagogued the issue—no Social Security checks—until he was called out, and then went on the hustings spouting inanities. He left conservatives scratching their heads: They could have made a better, more moving case for the liberal ideal as translated into the modern moment, than he did. He never offered a plan. In a crisis he was merely sly. And no one likes sly, no one respects it.
So he is losing a battle in which he had superior forces—the presidency, the U.S. Senate. In the process he revealed that his foes have given him too much mystique. He is not a devil, an alien, a socialist. He is a loser. And this is America, where nobody loves a loser.

Washington (CNN) — The Senate delayed consideration of Majority Leader Harry Reid’s debt ceiling proposal late Saturday night, pushing back a key procedural vote by 12 hours.
The vote to stop debate and end a GOP filibuster on the plan will now be held at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, as opposed to 1 a.m.
Reid, D-Nevada, said he was asking for a delay to provide additional time for negotiations underway at the White House.
There are “many elements to be finalized” and still “a distance to go,” Reid said. “We should give everyone as much room as possible to do their work.”
Reid’s announcement capped a day of sharp partisan voting in the House and extended talks behind closed doors between congressional and administration officials. Concern continued to grow that Congress will fail to raise the nation’s debt ceiling in time to avoid a potentially devastating national default next week.

Учитывая последние речи Обамы, что США может грозить дефолт, причем — очень скоро, я теперь и не знаю, начнут ли ее делать вообще.
Радуюсь уже тому, что батареи на коляске поменяли. Уже хорошо.

Компьютер — “кирдык”.
Йипа — каждый вечер трясется, поскольку у кого-то из соседей “День Независимости” получился очень затяжным. Кстати, ветеринар прописал Йипе “валлиум”.
Коляска еле ползает.
Это, не считая кражи. Которую я, по большому счету, поставил на самое последнее место из всех моих летних “достижений”.
И про “дефолт”, которым грозит стране Президент, вы уже знаете, правда?
Кто-то этому радуется, интересно?

Я понимаю, что ядерные отходы очень опасно складировать на собственной территории, и, в то же время, пытаться захоронить их на чьей-либо территории, — как-то оно не очень хорошо выгдядит.
Это если еще не брать во внимание сколько времени может занять поиски той самой территории и разные технические детали.
“Several DOE officials told us that they had never seen such a large program with so much pressure to close down so quickly,” the report said in reference to the repository located about 100 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
The Obama administration did not provide a technical or scientific basis for shutting down the site and failed to plan or identify risks associated with its hasty closure, which could hinder the Energy Department if the Nuclear Regulatory Commission or lawsuits prompt the agency to revive the project, the report said.
House Republicans who asked GAO to conduct the report in 2009 are pouncing on the study as proof the project should be revived, considering Yucca Mountain has already cost more than $12 billion, and a permanent repository would offer a nationwide solution for more than 65,000 metric tons of spent fuel currently being stored near reactors in 33 states, an amount expected to double by 2055.

При проведении спецоперации, в ходе которой был убит лидер “Аль-Каеды” Осама бин Ладен, также был ликвидирован один из его старших сыновей, сообщает Agence France-Presse со ссылкой на источники в администрации США. Имя убитого вместе с “террористом № 1″ не называется. Всего у бин Ладена 19 детей.

Это просто как пример, как сильно потеряли демократы.
Хотя, если быть до конца откровенным, то дело совсем не в демократах. Не думаю, что Республиканцы в нынешней ситуации что-то сделали бы лучше.
